A dedicated second-year engineering student, referred to Aalayam by a past beneficiary, is striving to complete their education despite financial hardships.
The student's father, previously a small shop tailor, lost his business during the COVID-19 lockdown and now earns daily wages working in a bakery. The mother works as a daily laborer, while the sibling is also pursuing higher education.
Despite these challenges, the student has secured government and college concessions, reducing tuition fees to ₹7,700. However, commuting costs amount to ₹2,200 per month. To support these expenses, the student is working part-time at a nearby petrol station.
Recognizing this resilience and dedication, Aalayam has supported the student for the first two years and will continue to contribute ₹20,000 towards their third-year college fees, ensuring uninterrupted access to education and a brighter future.
