This students comes from a disadvantaged background, but that has not stopped her from working hard on her B.Sc Maths course. Her father has been bedridden for several years with one side of his body not functioning, and her mother works as a domestic helper. Her elder brother has studied upto Class 10 and is a daily wage earner. The student's head of the department had arranged financial assistance for her fees in the first year and has now approached Aalayam for help with the second-year fees. After review, it has been decided that Aalayam will support the student with Rs. 7,500 for the academic fees.
