The student is in the first year of a B.Com degree. Her parents are flower-sellers near a temple in Chennai. The family, including the student's elder brother, live in rental accommodation. Both the children studied in a government aided school. From Aalayam's enquiries with the college, the student is regular and active in class. Her elder brother too is studying B.Com and his fees is being supported by a family acquaintance. The student's pending fees for this year is Rs. 17,000.
