After the recent death of his father, this student in Chennai is facing difficulties in paying his fees for his engineering course. His father, who was running a car wash facility, died after suffering an electric shock at work. Taking a loan, the family spent Rs. 3.3 lakh on his treatment but he did not recover.

The student, pursuing his second year B.E. course in EEE, is making some income by working in the car wash on weekends. On weekdays, he offers tuitions for schoolchildren in his neighbourhood. These efforts have helped him in making Rs. 1,000 per week but his educational expenses are far more.

The family lives in a rented house, which comprises a room and a kitchen with asbestos roofing. Despite the hardships faced, the student is keen to continue his education. After review, Aalayam has agreed to support the student with Rs. 40,000.
