Bommarajapuram is a tribal village located around 70 km from Theni. This village is inside forest areas, so they do not have facilities such as electricity and easy access to towns.
The government primary school (Class 1 – 5) with strength of 15 students does not have furniture for the children to use. The headmasters of the school have requested Aalayam for financial support in getting 4 numbers of small desks that the children can use to write on. The desks are low-rise ones that children can use to keep their notebooks on while sitting on the floor.
Primary school is the first step in helping students get a foothold in the ladder of education. There have been reports of child marriage in the villages and it is hoped that education will help people move away from such practices.
Aalayam has agreed to sponsor the desks for the schools.
